This is another experience of mine when I was in Midnapore. (read my previous experience with Poonam). We had a senior member, let us call him Bimalda, who was posted at Midnapore. He was 35, married and had a small girl of about 4 years. He was a very brilliant man and we all considered his joining our company as an ill-conceived decision. For his intelligence and experience, he could have landed a plush job with a lot of perks and benefits. But he was a son of the soil kind of a person and did not want to venture outside West Bengal. His beautiful wife, let’s call her Chaitali, was equally intelligent, a woman, with a lot of commonsense. She was about 32, had a well-maintained figure of 34-26-36 and carried herself very well. She was a graduate in commerce and had not sought a job in the interest of her marriage and home. We bachelors fantasized her a lot and did not lose any chance to be with her, even in the presence of her husband. She made the interesting company, and she was one of the main causes of me stereotyping married Bengali women as “naughty”.
